Police cordon off open space as they probe assault in Grays

POLICE are investigating an assault in Argent Street, close to Thames Road, Grays, shortly after 8.30pm last night, (Wednesday, 6 July).

It was reported that a man aged in his 30s had sustained a head injury.

He was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening or life-changing.

No arrests have been made and police enquiries are ongoing.

A statement from Essex Police says: "Although our investigation is in its early stages, we believe this incident to be isolated and there is no wider threat to the Grays community.

"We have taken a number of accounts from witnesses which are feeding into our investigation and we need anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell footage of it to submit a report online at https://www.essex.police.uk where you can use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am and 11pm. Please quote incident 1311 of 6 July.
