THURROCK'S community policing team have taken to social media to highlight their work on the ground in the Grays area.

The Thurrock town team have been conducting high visibility patrols in Orsett Heath and Woodside Close following ongoing anti-social behaviour reports.

Officers with the assistance of Essex Fire and Rescue officers attended a small fire within the wooded area to the rear of Woodside Close on Friday (3 July).

Police say: "On arrival the individuals had made off leaving behind a fire starting kit. This has now been seized and enquires are ongoing.

"Pc Dedman, Pc Plom, Acting Sergeant Mackinnon and Sc Clark conducted extensive foot patrols in the area engaging with local residents and obtaining intelligence.

"Whilst on route back to the station, a vehicle caught officers' attention. The vehicle was stopped and road side enquires established that the driver was not insured. He has since been reported to court and the vehicle seized."

The town team is seeking further engagement with local people and added: "Tell us what matters to you, email the team on [email protected]."
