Police issue details of Lakeside incident and 'man with a firearm'

POLICE have released some details of yesterday's incident when it is reported a man discharged a firearm at Lakeside.

A statement released this morning (Wednesday, 14 September) says: "We were called to Weston Avenue, Thurrock, at around 2.45pm on Tuesday, 13 September following a report of a man holding an item that has been described to us as a firearm. 

"It was reported that a bang was heard before two men left the scene.

"An investigation has been launched, and at this stage we do not believe anyone was injured."

Detective Inspector Yoni Adler investigating said: "Officers were on scene yesterday and the retail park area was closed off so they could carry out investigative duties.

"We have spoken to a number of people to establish what happened, but would like to speak to anyone who has information that could help us.

"Anyone in the area at the time that has dash cam footage is asked to check it to see if they have captured anything that may help the investigation. 

"Officers will carry out reassurance patrols in the area today. If you have any information, approach them and tell us what you know.
