Police offer reassurance after incident in Ockendon

ESSEX Police has offered reassurance to residents in South Ockendon following an incident in Windstar Drive this afternoon (Sunday, 15 December).

A number of officers attended alongside other emergency services. 

A police statement says: "The road is currently closed while this challenging incident continues to be dealt with. 

"Access in the area is likely to be restricted well into this evening. 

 "We're aware of speculation in the area and we can assure residents that at no stage has there been any threat to the wider community whatsoever. 

 "We will endeavour to provide an update when it is practically possible to do so."

Residents have said there is a large emergency service presence, suggesting armed officers are involved.

The incident is said to involved members of one family.

The air ambulance also landed in nearby Arisdale Avenue.
