A FORMER Essex Police officer has been sentenced after admitting misconduct in a public office.

Former PC David Wren, 57, pleaded guilty to having an inappropriate relationship with a victim of crime.

The offence took place between October 2021 and November 2022 and was investigated by the Independent Office for Police Conduct following a referral from Essex Police.

Wren appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on 26 March, where he received a two‑year custodial sentence, suspended for 18 months.

He has also been dismissed from policing following an accelerated misconduct hearing.

Chief Constable Ben‑Julian Harrington said Wren's actions were unacceptable and that Essex Police will always take action to remove anyone who breaches the public's trust.
