RESIDENTS in East Tilbury have been praised for alerting police and the discovery of a cannabis stash.

A spokesperson for Thurrock Police said: "Following reports of a vehicle causing anti social behaviour in East Tilbury on Saturday, officers came across several males in a car.

"The occupants made off on foot and left the vehicle insecure. Upon performing a search of the vehicle an amount of cannabis was found.

"The registered owner will be made accountable for this.

"This is a great example of community information sharing with the police leading to a result."
