Police report on Grays town centre crackdown

THURROCK's town centre policing team has reported on the success of a seven hour operation in Grays when they hit the streets to tackle anti-social behavior and knife crime.

The team used officers in uniform and a number of plain clothes officers who worked throughout the evening of Friday, 24 July.

A statement issued by the force says: "On Friday 24th July officers in both plain clothes and uniform conducted foot patrols on Grays Park, Seabrooke Rise, Argent Street, Clarence Road, New Road and within the High Street for more than seven hours hours to combat ant-spocial behaviour and knife crime.

During the course of the evening officers:

- conducted three stop searches

- Issued 2 cannabis warnings

- Recovered one knife

- Recovered one stolen motorbike

- Reported one person for breach of a community protection notice

- Reported numerous intel reports

"There is no place for anti-social behaviour or knife crime in the Thurrock area - especially within the town centre areas."
