RESIDENTS in the Orsett and Horndon on the Hill areas have been expressing concerns about what they regard as suspicious activity following several instances of women reported knocking on doors late in the evening and even into the early hours of the morning.

Police have responded to calls about the matter and can allay some fears of criminal activity as it is believed there are mental health issues behind at least some of the calls and advice and help is being issued where police have identified a need.

However, they would still like to hear from residents if they continue to have worries or further information.

A spokesperson said: "If anyone has concerns around suspicious activity, you can report it online through the Essex Police digital 101 service."

Police have also taken the opportunity of considerable local interest to remind people of potential doorstep scams and are guiding residents to their advice page here.
