POLICE have announced the arrest of a wanted man they believed might be in Thurrock and who posed a threat to children.

There were a number of sightings reported on social media of a man answering the description issued by police of Mohammed Shahid Ali, 38, wanted by the Metropolitan Police Service on recall to prison having 'failed to comply with the conditions of his release.'

It was reported by police that Ali might be in the Thurrock area, particularly in places that had a rail station nearby as he is known to have committed offences on tubes and trains and they warned the public not to approach him.

Today (Sunday, 16 January) police have reported that he is now in custody having been arrested by Met Police officers.
