Police seek witnesses to crash after motorist drove away

POLICE in Grays have appealed for help as they try to track down a driver who fled the scene after a vehicle hit a wall in Grays.

The incident happened on Friday (2 August) on Southend Road close to the junction with St George's Avenue when a vehicle left the road, mounted the pavement and crashed into the wall and fence of a property on St George's.

The motorist immediately drove away.

A statement from police says: "We were called to reports of a single vehicle collision at Southend Road, Grays, at 4.40pm on Friday, 2 August when a car was in collision with a garden wall to a property.

"No one injured.

"The car did not stop at the scene.

"Our enquiries continue.

"Anyone who can help our investigation should call 101 and quote incident 899 of 2 August."
