Police step up presence in Grays

POLICE officers put on a show of strength to illustrate a commitment to local policing at the weekend and that Grays town centre continues to be a policing priority.

Members of the Essex force mounted high-visibility patrols in Grays High Street this weekend, speaking with residents and businesses and tackling local concerns.

A statement from divisional commander Chief Inspector Danny Barnes says: "Grays remains a priority for our neighbourhood policing teams, who regularly patrol the town centre and work with partners to tackle anti-social behaviour, shop theft, street drinking and those causing the most harm.

"We know people want to see officers in Grays, and maintaining a visible presence in the town centre is an important part of our work.

"Our officers are also responding to emergencies, safeguarding vulnerable people and investigating crime across the wider Thurrock district.

"We'll continue listening to the community and supporting businesses."

Police add if you have concerns about crime or anti-social behaviour in Grays, report them online at www.essex.police.uk but always call 999 in an emergency.
