THE annual meeting of Purfleet Heritage and Military Centre will take place later this month, the culmination of a busy time for the home of a wide range of historical artifacts and memorabilia relating to the history of the local area dating from the 18th century to present day.

Frequently described as one of the hidden jewels in Thurrock's crown, the centre, on Centurian Way, has recently played host to a number of events included the Thurrock Nepalese and Gurkha community day, attended by civic dignitaries

The centre is open every Thursday, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from 10am till 3.30pm. There is a tea bar serving hot and cold drinks and snacks.

The annual general meeting is on Thursday, 25 August starting at 11.30am.

Its founder, Alan Gosling (centre) still plays an active role at the Purfleet Heritage and Military centre.
