Popular park is looking to expand trustee body

By Neil Speight 14th Oct 2021

ONE of Thurrock's most successful community run ventures, Stanford-le-Hope's Hardie Park, is looking to increase its number of trustees.

A spokesperson for the Friends of Hardie Park says: "We are looking to grow our Trustee team, and as such would like to bring up to four new Trustees on Board to help us in our work to ensure that Hardie Park is able to continue making a difference to the people of Stanford-le-Hope, and beyond.

"We meet monthly – in the evening of the first Monday of each month. Historically our meetings have been held at our community space in Hardie Park (Stanford-le-Hope, Essex), however, we are able to accommodate virtual attendance for anyone based further afield.

"Beyond our monthly meetings, we would expect ad-hoc involvement in matters relating to the charity's governance, meetings with partners etc. Beyond that, trustees will be encouraged (although this is not essential) to volunteer time with the charity to learn more about the organisation, systems/processes, to meet park users, understand fully the impact of our work etc

"We are looking for people who understand the power of community organisations such as ours, and who are passionate about improving our work. While we do have a need on the Board for a trustee with skills and knowledge of HR, we would welcome applications from anyone who feels that they can contribute their skills, and their time to our work. We are looking for people with a commitment to diversity and inclusion, who are team players, and most importantly, people who are passionate about the work of our charity.

"This is a voluntary role although all reasonable expenses properly incurred will be reimbursed.

"To apply please send a CV and a short supporting statement (maximum of one side of A4) outlining your interest in our work and this opportunity. For a confidential discussion, please contact Matt Adams, our Chair, on [email protected]."
