IT is tradition every year that Forth Ports, the operators of the Port of Tilbury, gives everyone across the group a fresh turkey for their Christmas meal.

Around 700 turkeys are given out at the Port of Tilbury and today (Thursday, 23 December), the majority most have now been distributed.

The team at the port had an early start as they handed out hundreds of birds throughout the day starting with the people who came off the night shift. There was a festive atmosphere in the port all day as people collected their turkeys.

There are always a few extras and these are given to St Luke's Hospice, the Seaman's Mission and to the port's marine team who are working on Christmas Day.
