Post box tribute to Sir Tom

A THURROCK grandmother has paid a special tribute to the late Captain Sir Tom Moore by knitting a special post box cover.

The creation of Janet Alabaster from Grays is now displayed on top of the box on Butts Lane, Stanford-le-Hope at the junction with Valmar Road.

It is the box in which her grandchildren Oliver and Jessica Langford posted their 100th birthday cards to Sir Tom – who passed away last week.

Mrs Alabaster is a member of the Stifford Clays Knitting Club.

Knitted post box covers are something of a fashion at the moment, Thurrock Nub News recently posted a story on one knitted by Sabine Oakley that still adorns a box at Socketts Heath in tribute to the NHS and other key workers.
