DUE to a low number of sign-ups, this week's planned Soup business event has been cancelled. It would have had a 'Love business' theme

Thurrock Soup events aim to help inspire social enterprise and business ideas from participants and offer advice and support in starting a new business and in identifying funding and the next event - an online one - was scheduled for Friday, 12 February.

However, today (Monday, 8 February) it was announced by Thurrock Council's economic development officer Billy Masters that the event is off. He says: "Unfortunately, due to a low number of registrations we have decided to postpone Friday's Thurrock Soup event. There were less than normal number of bookings and we would want the usual well attended, competitive event, whereby we normally attract four to six pitches for the prize pot.

"There could be a number of factors including Zoom fatigue for an after work event and we will now schedule another event, probably in the Spring."
