Power worker rushed to hospital with significant injuries: Cordon in place at site

A POWERLINE worker was seriously injured in an incident in South Ockendon in the early hours of this morning.

A statement from Essex Police says: "We were informed of an incident in Daiglen Drive, shortly after 2.15am this morning, Wednesday, 18 January, during which a man who was working on a power box had sustained a serious injury.

"We arrived and provided support while the man was cared for by medics. He was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

"We are liaising with both Thurrock Council and the Health and Safety Executive on the incident.

"A cordon is in place at the scene so please plan alternative routes of travel if required.

"We need anyone who witnessed the incident or who has mobile phone, dashcam or doorbell footage of it to get in contact.

A statement from the East of Engalnd Ambulance Service adds: "We were called just after 2am to an accident on Daiglen Drive in South Ockendon.

"One ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, two EEAST senior paramedics, and one senior paramedic from the London Ambulance Service were sent to the scene.

"One patient with serious injuries was transported to The Royal London Hospital for treatment."
