Primary numbers are static
By Nub News Reporter 14th Apr 2026
THURROCK Council has reported on an almost identical set of figures to last year, when details of placements at borough primary schools were released today (Tuesday, 14 April).
Figures show a return to stability after a drop of preferred choices in 2024 when 89% of applicants were offered their first choice of primary school and 97% got one of their top three.
That was from 91.63% getting their first choice (98% top three) in 2023 but the numbers bounced back in 2025 to 91.63% being offered their first preference (98% top three) and those figures are almost identical to the 2026 outcomes reported today.
Of 2,183 applications received from Thurrock residents this year, 2,000 children (91.62%) have been offered a place at their first‑choice primary school. Over 98% of applicants have got one of their top three.
A total of 123 children (5.63%) were offered their second‑preference school, while 32 children (1.47%) were offered their third preference.
Families who applied online for a primary school place can now log in to the admissions portal to view their offer.
Applicants who did not apply online will receive their offer by post.
