A shoplifter is to be sentenced next month after admitting stealing from shops in Grays town centre on 11 occasions.

Charlie Birch, 28, was arrested on 12 January by a town centre officer at Choice in the High Street and pleaded guilty at Southend Magistrates' Court on 14 January to 11 counts of shop theft.

The court was told he had stolen more than £300 of coats and jackets from Choice, snacks from nearby Greggs and two cases of beer from Morrisons in London Road between 13 December 2025 and 12 January 2026.

Birch is due to be sentenced at Maidstone Magistrates' Court on 19 February 2026.
