QEII bridge closed as police dealt with incident and brought people to safety

By Nub News Reporter   22nd May 2024

DRIVERS on the approach to the QEII bridge at the Dartford Bridge were held by police this afternoon as officers dealt with an incident.

An alert was raised around 12.30pm this afternoon (Wednesday, 22 May).

Initially the anti-clockwise Dartford Tunnels were shut, but have since reopened. However, traffic on the clockwise carriageway faced severe delays.

A police statement this afternoon says: "An incident on the Dartford Crossing has now been resolved.

"We had been called to concerns for someone on the bridge shortly after 12.25pm today (Wednesday 22 May).

"Officers attended and brought them to safety.

"Traffic was held while the incident was ongoing but the road is now reopening.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding."
