SOME residents have been evacuated and special care arrangements have been put in place for others after a complete power failure at Collins House in Corringham today (Tuesday, 31 December).

The residential home is run by Thurrock Council and s statement released by council leader Cllr Rob Gledhill, Leader of Thurrock Council, says: "We have experienced a loss of power at Collins House today, Tuesday 31 December 2019.

"This has resulted in loss of heat, light and other emergency facilities such as the fire alarm systems.

"The immediate response by council officers has been to ensure suitable alternative arrangements have been made for our residents based on their needs and to speak to and reassure all their families.

"Arrangements are being made for all residents to ensure that nobody remains at Collins House whilst the power is down.

"Contractors were immediately called and the national provider is on site to assess the cause of the problem in order to restore power as quickly as possible."
