QUAD bikers have been causing damage on a borough nature reserve and pose a threat to wildlife.

Angry residents in East Tilbury have highlighted the problems caused by riders who access a coastal path in the village and then ride along the Thames to the Thameside Nature Park.

The latest incident happened last night (Friday, 21 January) between 10 and 11pm when quadbikers entered the riverside area via the car park on Colne and through broken and open gates.

A resident told Nub News: "This morning when I walked my dog you could see the tracks across the field and they have damaged the fence that leads onto the path to the Thameside Nature and Discovery Park, and also the fence by the first lake.

"There are at least three owls nest over there as well as foxes and other wildlife but it is so frustrating the Police, Council and even our councillors do not seem to care.

"Yet they have wasted money on taking up speed ramps. I have reported this incident to the Police and let Thameside park know about the damage but to be honest I want to see something done rather than have another year of nuisance bikes and quads waiting for an accident to happen."

This morning park rangers made repairs and made the gates secure.
