THE RNLI lifeboat based at Gravesend was called on to help two stranded sealwatchers on the Thames near East Tilbury this afternoon (Sunday, 12 September).

They had become marooned on the former radar tower adjacent to Coalhouse Fort.

As the tide began to ebb around 5pm the boat and its crew stood by to ensure the two could get to shore safely.

Details about the Gravesend Lifeboat station, which is widely supported by fundraisers in Thurrock, can be found via this link.
