Bill takes the helm on night when good causes are gifted help

By Neil Speight 13th Sep 2021

THERE is a new hand on the tiller at Rotary East Thurrock following a handover to incoming president Bill Coleman.

He succeeds Peter Wiggington who was on hand to pass over the chain of office at a recent ceremony at the Springhouse Club, Corringham, after completing a two year stint as president due to the Covid pandemic.

The evening also saw presentations to local good causes of money raised by the club. Recipients were Basildon and Thurrock Bras, Corringham Wombles, Hardie Park, 1st Corringham Scout Group, Gateway 97.8 radio and Stanford Blooming Marvels.

Mr Coleman says: "It was a pleasure and an honour to take over as president of our club from Peter who worked so hard to keep the club moving forward during the last two difficult years.

"To see all the hardworking community groups there and be able to contribute to help their causes whilst hosting a very enjoyable night is the very essence of Rotary.

"With the help of the wider community we will continue to help as many local causes as we can and have fun doing it. We would love to hear from anybody interested in joining our dwindling but happy group so that we can keep doing what we do for years to come. You can contact us at [email protected]."
