A road closure is currently in place at the Dartford River Crossing as multiple emergency services respond to concerns for the welfare of a man on the bridge.

A police statement said: "The incident was first reported shortly after 10.50am this morning (Wednesday, 10 June) and our response is ongoing.

"A diversion is in place utilising the tunnel, but delays are expected. Motorists, wherever possible, are urged to avoid the area."

A later update said: "The incident at the Dartford River Crossing has now been resolved safely.

"We appreciate the patience shown by the public while this work was carried out."

I don't understand why this bridge can't be made jumper-proof. The disruption must have cost many millions over the years, it must be possible to install suitable security fencing or netting to stop this happening, it's not as if it's a rare occurence!
