Search for information for local residents - Nub News will find the answers for you

By Neil Speight 24th Mar 2020

THURROCK Nub News has received several phone calls and some emails seeking information about local services, particularly those provided by Thurrock Council, that are available during the coronavirus lockdown.

Clearly this is a fluid situation and we are not critical of the council at this difficult time but we have focused on some specific questions asked of us and put them to the council (see below).

If you have any questions you would like us to chase up for you please email [email protected] or call 07885313435.

Please also share any information you feel is relevant to Thurrock residents. If you have information to share, either load it to our website via the Nubit button, email editor [email protected] or call 07885313435. You can also get information out through our Facebook page here.

Questions we have asked:

  1. Thurrock Council operates a number of important services including housing and benefits advice via its hubs. Obviously library sections of the borough community hubs are closed but are the premises open for others services. If so, what services and at what times.
  2. Will you be diverting resource into providing a better telephone answering service during this crisis. A lot of borough residents, who are now isolated, will only have their phones for contact.
  3. What, is any, provision have you made regarding the collection of domestic council tax for people who are hit by loss of revenue due to coronavirus.
  4. Will scheduled council meetings continue?
  5. What council services - if any - have been suspended?
