THE Met Office has issued a warning that the area could be hit by high winds from midnight tonight.

The service says the bad weather is likely to last until noon tomorrow and it says there could be damage and disruption across parts of the south.

What to expect

Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely

Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely

Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer

Some damage to temporary outdoor structures possible

It's likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
