THERE were cancellations and delays to c2c rail services across the region this morning, some of which will extend into the late afternoon, following an incident in which a container lorry hit a bridge.

The crash happened in Pitsea on the B1464 where the rail line passes overhead, close to the Tesco superstore.

The crash, around 10am, happened as the area was still recovering from disruption caused by an earlier road crash at the nearby junction between the A13 and A132 in which a car overturned.
