Snow falls and gritting team is deployed across borough - schools could close in the morning

HEAVY snowfall this evening (Sunday, 11 December) has brought hazardous conditions to the borough's roads.

Snow began to fall around 7pm and has continued.

At around 7pm Thurrock Council announced it would be delpoying its fleet of gritting lorries, saying: "With a chilly weather forecast our gritters will be out across primary routes twice tonight, first at 9pm and then again at 1am."

Earlier today the met Office issued a yellow weather warning for snow, ice and fog over the next day and into tomorrow (12 December).

A number of schools have announced they will make a decision early in the morning about whether they will be opening because of the weather conditions. Nub News will keep you updated.
