LOCAL food producers are invited to show off their wares at this year's Orsett show in the popular Pantry Marquee area.

The food tent is always a magnet for food enthusiasts who can check out a wide range of produce, much of it from local farms, butchers and bakers.

Pantry co-ordinator Samantha Nash says: "We would welcome Orsett Show applicants for the friendly inviting Pantry marquee area.

"We have a variety of goods to be sold so far including cheeses, bacon, sausage, pies, scotch eggs, sauces, chutneys, artisan breads and for those with a sweeter tooth, cakes cookies, fudge, sweets.

"We are proud to offer a larger covered area this year to encourage more local producers the opportunity to promote their products.

"We want to encourage and promote the taste of fresh fruit and vegetables, locally reared meats and traditionally baked breads and cakes. Essex is also the home of many small breweries and, again, we believe this would be an ideal opportunity to introduce local beers and wines.

"We will also have a variety or gins and vodkas (bottled not on tap).

"We are a country show and as such our ethos is to "Promote Local Businesses."
