Speed cameras going up on busy Grays road as council bids to make junction safer

WORK has commenced on the installation of average speed cameras on Lodge Lane in Grays.

In September Thurrock Council announced it was installing the cameras as a preventative safety measure following a number of crashes at the road's junction with Bradleigh Avenue.

Several crashes in quick succession in August and September prompted the action.

The council has repeatedly refuted local residents' assertions that the junction is badly designed, which is the cause of the accident. And there is already a speed camera within a few dozen yards of the junction.

However, the council has pressed ahead with its plan and the cameras will soon be live from the Treacle Mine roundabout to Piggs Corner.
