THURROCK Nub News is delighted to announce an innovative partnership with the Port of Tilbury who will be supporting our coverage of the local community, particularly in Tilbury and the immediate area, through a sponsorship package.

Editor Neil Speight said: "I am so pleased at this latest stage of the development of Nub News in Thurrock, we have been looking for the right sponsorship partner for a while to enable us to expand our coverage of the local community. And I can think of none better than the Port of Tilbury, with whom I have had a long association since first coming to Thurrock more than 16 years ago.

"We will, of course, continue to cover all news events concerning the port objectively and in-depth but the support offered by the port will now allow us to spend time looking more at the wide array of community work carried out in the local community.

"The port is already well-known for its commitment to town events like the Christmas lights – which will again shine bright this year despite Covid-19 – and the Tilbury Riverside Project, but we will also be looking at much of its work which is not so widely known.

"For example, I was delighted to report yesterday on the work of the Attention to Logistics programme which is offering opportunities to former servicemen and women and their families to get back into work.

" We have also created a Tilbury-dedicated Nub It button which allows them to contribute directly to our news service. Please tell us everything that's going on in your community."

Port of Tilbury Asset & Site Director Paul Dale said: "We are very pleased to be working with Thurrock Nub News. Its news coverage and commitment to supporting the borough community is second to none and I am sure that the increased coverage they can now provide of activities in Tilbury and around the port will be appreciated."

"Local schools and community organisations have been working really hard throughout the Covid period. To highlight some good news stories about what the community have been doing to support each other, the Port of Tilbury have sponsored Thurrock Nub News to cover the fantastic work that has been going on, right on our doorstep."

Karl Hancock, Chief Executive of Nub News, which now has sites covering more than 50 UK towns, said: "This is another landmark moment as Nub News continues to revolutionise news reporting and bring back local coverage to local communities."

Please get in touch with Thurrock Nub News ([email protected]) if you have a positive story about the community of Tilbury that you would like to share.
