TWO of the borough's biggest knits have been busy!

Stanley Jackson and Susan Burns are among a number of quick-fingered lovers of knitting and crochet who create celebratory 'toppers' for post boxes.

And both have created eye-catching ones to mark this weekend's coronation of King Charles III.

Stanley and his latest topper.

For Stanley, it was an exercise that caused him a bit of anxiety. Three times last year his creations, which help raise money for good causes, were vandalised or stolen.

But he decided the royal occasion warranted his best efforts and so he got his needles out and started working his magic.

He said: "I've been so apprehensive making another postbox topper after the last three where either taken or vandalised but I wanted to celebrate the King's coronation on Saturday.

"I hope everyone likes it."

Susan, who runs the Grays-based Needles and Chat social group has placed her Coronation post box topper outside the medical centre in Chafford Hundred.
