Stay sober, stay safe - stay out of the cells. Message to drivers on New year's Eve

AS revellers set out to mark the end of the year and start of a new decade, Essex Police's traffic teams have warned drivers they will be out and about and are ready to catch anyone who drink or drug drives.

So far this December the police have arrested 341 people for offences - that's one every 118 minutes.

They have arrested 144 drink drivers, 146 drug drivers and 51 people who have failed to provide a sample.
