BOROUGH athletes will be on their marks a little quicker thanks to a fundraising effort by members of a Thurrock store.

The Co-op at Socketts Heath, Grays, selected Thurrock Harriers Athletics Club as a community group it wanted to support and staff helped raise £2,672 .

Members of the club, based at the nearby King Georges Field sports ground, visited the store recently to collect a cheque.

A spokesperson for the club said: "We would like to thank all the staff for raising this amazing amount for the club."
