THE Attention to Logistics Programme which was set up by the Port of Tilbury and the Tilbury on the Thames Trust is for veterans and their families to access training opportunities to help build new careers through training and real job opportunities at the port and with its partners.

The Trust, in association with the Port of Tilbury Logistics Academy, The Royal British Legion, Walking with Wounded and the RFEA offers bursaries to ex-servicemen, women and their immediate families to help them back into work.

Currently the port and the recently opened Tilbury2 operation is looking for straddle carrier drivers to meet the increasing demand from its successful operations.

Initial training is given in the Technology Training suite located in the railway station at the cruise terminal. All candidates use the first class simulators to give them a real feel for the job and to increase confidence and ability before getting into these amazing bits of plant machinery.

This opportunity has arisen thanks to an innovative scheme launched by the Port of Tilbury and the Tilbury on the Thames Trust, for service veterans and members of their families to seize the chance to be trained, up skill and attend career pathway workshops,
