Stu's getting on his bike and showing a lot of heart for charity
By Nub News Reporter 28th Apr 2026
A THURROCK 'fat man' is challenging his own fitness and taking part in the London to Brighton cycle ride to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.
Stuart Gibbinson is a lifelong Stanford-le-Hope resident and paramedic with the East of England Ambulance Service working out of Thurrock.
He will be riding with four friends who are also raising money for BHF.

Stuart says: "The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives.
"It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.
"Undertaking this challenge not only raises money for a good cause but also helps my cardiovascular health. With each donation I am encouraged to continue riding and practising which is of course improving my health too, increasing this fat man's chances of being a healthy geriatric!"
If you would like to support Stuart on his ride on Sunday, 21 June then you can donate via this link.
