Thameside lines up shows for 2024

THURROCK's under-threat Thameside Theatre is open for business for 2024.

That's the message coming out of the Orsett Road venue after it booked a host of shows for the first quarter of next year - with more promised up until at least July.

The theatre has been the subject of a long and complicated process of transferring ownership into the public domain after Thurrock Council decided it could no longer afford to run the complex in which it is housed.

However, a strong public campaign opposing closure and interest from local community-backed groups means the issue is far from decided and the council has now given the green light for the theatre's management to continue to book up new shows.

Currently the theatre is hosting the 2023-24 festive pantomine Jack and the Beanstalk, which has reportedly had a great response at the box office.

It runs until the first week of the new year and then a series of shows will follow.

Nub News is delighted to share details of some of the up and coming shows.
