Grays and Tilbury pay tribute to fallen

By Neil Speight 5th Nov 2022

PRIOR to this afternoon's (Saturday, 5 November) Isthmian North match at Parkside a short service commemorated local fallen heroes in conflicts across the generations.

Grays were at home to Heybridge Swifts in a match between two sides challenging for promotion.

Before the kick-off the names of local fallen were read out, the Last Post and Reveille were sounded and a minute's silence observed.

At Chadfields, where Tilbury FC entertained New Salamis a similar pre-match service took place, with Grays Thurrock Royal British Legion chairman Rod Oakley in attendance and carrying the branch standard.
