AN appeal has gone out for 'superheroes' to come to the aid of a borough charity desperately in need to help to support needy families during the coronavirus lockdown.
Corringham-based Thurrock Foodbank supports families and residents all across the borough and has already expressed thanks to many local businesses who have come forward with donations at this time of crisis.
But more are needed at the organisation's headquarters at the Thurrock Christian Fellowship,
2-4 Chase Road, Corringham, SS17 7QH. Business co-ordinator at Thurrock Foodbank, Sandra Sawle, says: "We've all at some point growing up wanted to be a super hero now is your chance - you can wrap a towel over your shoulder and wear a cape if you want to when you email me but please those in crisis in our community need your help and it's needed now to become a superhero today! "You may have seen pictures of all the amazing donations of luxury items we have received from various companies and we are incredibly grateful for their generosity as their stores close but our shelves are becoming extremely sparse and we are getting very few individual donations of the basic food items we desperately need in order to meet the increasing demand from those in crisis in Thurrock. "Can you, your company or someone you know donate items such as longlife milk or fruit juice, tinned fish or mashed potato etc. Or make a financial donation and we will purchase it in your name."
