Three die in late night A13 crash

THREE people were killed in a crash on the border of Thurrock and London last night (Monday, 15 July).

It happened on the London-bound A13 close to Wennington Marshes, Rainham, between Junction 30 and Ferry Lane shortly after 10pm.

Police officers from the Met and Essex attended, along with paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade.

A statement from the Met Police said: "Three vehicles were found to have been involved in a collision. Sadly, three people died at the scene.

"A further person was taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."

The road was closed overnight in bothe directions to allow recovery and a forensic investigation but opened around 8am. Diversiuons had been in place but there was a considerable backlog of traffic at that point.
