RESIDENTS across Thurrock are being invited to access free advice, support and community services this winter as the Thurrock Cares roadshows return to venues across the borough.

Running between 22 October and 20 November, the roadshows will bring together Thurrock Council, NHS partners, voluntary sector and community organisations to help residents find the support they need to stay well, save money and stay connected during the colder months.

Five events will take place in Grays, West Thurrock, Aveley, Corringham and Tilbury, giving residents the opportunity to speak directly with local organisations and access information in one place.

Visitors will be able to get advice on:

  • Financial support and benefits
  • Help with food and household essentials
  • Energy and heating advice
  • Support for older people and carers
  • Opportunities to get involved in your community
  • Respiratory health and winter wellbeing
  • Vaccination services
  • Warm spaces and staying connected in the community

The events are free to attend, with complimentary refreshments available and family-friendly activities planned at some venues.

Since launching in 2024, Thurrock Cares has helped thousands of residents access support with the cost of living and find practical help within their local community. The campaign continues to provide advice and support online, while the roadshows offer residents the chance to speak face-to-face with organisations that can help.

The Thurrock Cares roadshows will take place on:

  • Thursday 22 October: Civic Hall, Grays (10am to 1pm)
  • Monday 26 October: Cowdray Hall, West Thurrock (1pm to 5pm)
  • Wednesday 4 November: Aveley Library & Hub (10am to 1pm)
  • Tuesday 10 November: The Springhouse, Corringham (1pm to 5pm)
  • Friday 20 November: Tilbury Community Association (10am to 1pm)

Council leader Cllr Richard Bingley, said: "We know that winter can be a challenging time for many residents, whether that is because of higher household bills, concerns about health and wellbeing, or simply not knowing what support is available locally."

"The Thurrock Cares Warm Up For Winter roadshows bring together a wide range of services under one roof, making it easier for residents to get advice, ask questions and find out what help is available to them and their families."

"Whether you need support with finances, help to stay warm, health advice or opportunities to connect with others in your community, I would encourage anyone who thinks they may benefit to come along and have a chat with the teams attending."
