THURROCK Council has won the 'Solutions Partner' award at the Public Finance Awards 2020 for their ground-breaking 'single view of debt' initiative.

Cllr Shane Hebb, Cabinet Member for Finance, said: "Again, Thurrock Council's team have led the way with an innovative piece of work, this time in bringing together the many forms of household debt the council manages into a single, unified system.

"OneView brings information together from across our services so we can ensure our teams have a complete view of our residents' debts, when there are interactions between the council and those with council-debts.

"Not only does this save time and resources in how we manage debts, it most importantly enables our officers to tailor our approach to debt collection for the person with the different types of debt, and therefore be even more considerate of an individual's circumstances when arranging collections.

"This system means that resident and council will talk about the entire situation, rather than separate discussions about different forms of debts.

"Congratulations to #TeamThurrock for their outstanding work in collaboration with Xantura and for winning this exciting award."
