THERE has been a slight rise in the number of coronavirus infections in Thurrock, a contradiction to the national trend of numbers coming down.

Latest figures released show that in the week ended 24 February there were 191 new cases of Covid-19 recorded in the borough, ten up on the previous week.

The number of cases per 100,000 people in the borough is 110, opposed to the national average of 87.

The number of coronavirus-related deaths recorded in Thurrock to date is 445.

A new statistic added to public data related to vaccinations. With three major vaccinations sites in the borough and at least two smaller GP hubs, 33,935 people in the area had received their first dose of the vaccine by 21 February.
