Thurrock teen arrested after stabbing

AN 18-year-old man from Stanford-le-Hope has been arrested on suspicion of assault following a stabbing in Basildon that has prompted an appeal for information.

The incident happened on Saturday (8 August) evening.

A police statement says: "We were called shortly after 10pm to reports that a 17-year-old boy had stab wounds following an altercation outside an address in Maplin Gardens.

"Emergency services arrived and the teenager was treated for injuries that are not considered to be life-threatening or life-changing.

"An 18-year-old man from Stanford-le-Hope was arrested on suspicion of common assault.

"A 17-year-old girl from Benfleet was arrested on suspicion of affray and assaulting an emergency worker.

"If you witnessed the incident or have any information about what happened, please report it here.

"Alternatively you can call 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers completely anonymously.

"Please quote incident 1597 of 8 August when making any reports."
