TWO brothers from Tilbury have escaped jail after assaulting two men after going on a booze up following a month without drinking in 'dry January' last year.

Harry Mills, 25, and brother Mason, 24, both of Dock Road appeared for sentencing at Basildon Crown Court where they both pleaded guilty. Harry admitted causing grievous bodily harm and Mason causing actual bodily harm after becoming involved in an incident with two other men during the drinking spree on 1 February.

The court heard the incident was sparked by comments made by the other men about Harry Mills' girlfriend.

The brothers, who the court heard were remorseful and of previous good character, causes injuries including both victims having teeth knocked out.

Harry Mills received a nine months prison sentence suspended for 18 months and he must complete 200 hours of community work. He must also pay £1,500 compensation.

Mason Mills was given 25 days of rehabilitation and 100 hours community work and must pay £500 compensation.
