THE county's coroner has delivered a verdict on the cause of death of a man who lived in Grays after he died ten months ago.

At the Essex Coroner's Court yesterday (Wednesday, 26 May) coroner Linda Jacobs heard evidence following a motorbike crash on the High Road, Langdon Hills, last July.

The inquest heard how Polish-born Krzysztof Witiw, 39, from Grays was on a ride out with a friend on another bike when, at 8.40am on Saturday, 4 July, he lost control of his Suzuki machine and was flung from it after hitting a tree stump and then a second tree.

Emergency services were called to the scene and police officers closed the road for six hours while they carried out investigations.

The coroner heard Mr Witiw was an experienced motorcyclist who was appropriately dressed and tests showed he had no drugs or alcohol in his system.

The coroner recorded that his death was caused by multiple injuries sustained in a road traffic collision.
