Tilbury's Christmas lights are on, kids got a sweet treat and Santa paid a visit

TILBURY'S Christmas lights have been switched on and though the event was downsized from its usual evening of festivities there were still plenty of smiles about.

The annual event, which usually features a carol concert with performances by local schools, a funfair and other events was downgraded by the organisers because of concerns over rising levels of Covid.

Nevertheless the lights were switched on on Friday (3 December) and Santa arrived to meet many local youngsters in his grotto at the Sunshine Centre. And, thanks to the Port of Tilbury which also contributed to the cost of the town lights, youngsters who attended or turned up to see the lights were given chocolate treats.
