FIGURES released today (Thursday 16 April) have revealed that a vast majority of children across Thurrock will receive their first or second primary school choice for the September 2020 academic year.

The news has been welcomed by Cllr Andrew Jefferies, the Conservative administration's cabinet member for education and health, who said: "Once again we have delivered fantastic results for the thousands of children in Thurrock taking the big step into school education this September.

"It's an exciting time for our children as we continue to invest in education and their future to ensure they have the best opportunities to learn, grow and develop both in Thurrock and beyond."

From the 2,518 applications received this year all children will receive a school place in Thurrock, with 95% of children receiving their first or second school choice.

An additional 105 children received their first school choice compared to 2019 figures.
