Town centre assault spills into store where two are injured

POLICE have issued a call for witnesses or information after a disturbance in Stanford-le-Hope town centre which spilled into a store where two men were injured.

The incident happened at around 12.30pm yesterday (Sunday, 26 January) when police received an alert about a disturbance inside the Co-Operative Food Store, in High Street.

A statement from the force said: "We received information about a fight involving a group of people outside the store, which ended up inside the building with items damaged.

"We believe the store was closed for a short period following the incident.

"Two men reported being assaulted but did not require further treatment."

Anyone with information is asked to call Grays police station on 101 quoting either crime references 42/13960/20 or 42/13956. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
